We are happy to announce the next course organised by the Swiss School of Public Health + (SSPH+), entitled “Statistical Methods in Epidemiology”.

This will be a two-day course, held on January 14-15 2013 at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) of the University of Bern, Switzerland. The course will be facilitated by Professor Timothy Lash from Aarhus University Hospital and Wake Forest University .

This course offers a brief introduction to probability theory, a discussion of tools used to characterise the precision of epidemiologic results (p values, confidence intervals, likelihoods etc), a comparison of Bayesian and frequentist methods and a discussion on the difference between causal and statistical inference.

The course requires basic knowledge of epidemiological research. For more detailed information, please download the course flyer here. If you are interested, make sure you register online by December 14 2012, as the number of participants is limited.
