Do you want to learn how to analyze complex exposure-response patterns and learn all about the modern ways of thinking about confounding? Then the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssphplus.ch\/\">Swiss School of Public Health+<\/a> (SSPH+) has a course for you!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Observational epidemiological studies: advanced methods for data analysis&#8221; is a course that will be held on 23-27 June 2014 at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute in Basel. Topics to be covered include the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 regression analyses with generalized linear models (glm)<br \/>\n\u2022 use of smoothing and splines in generalized additive models (gam)<br \/>\n\u2022 Poisson time series analysis<br \/>\n\u2022 confounding and effect modification incl. directed acyclic graphs<br \/>\n(DAG)<br \/>\n\u2022 inverse probability weighting.<br \/>\n\u2022 the concept of instrumental variables<\/p>\n<p>The course is suitable for people familiar with the principals of linear and logistic regression modelling. Participants should also have practical experience with linear regression analysis, as well as working knowledge of the R statistical software. Not familiar with R?
