Most people are committing to (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/f910e12c-d372-11e6-b06b-680c49b4b4c0\">or they have already broken<\/a>) their new year&#8217;s resolutions. I will not join them as I prefer looking at the past before moving forward. So I thought I&#8217;d start the blog this year by summarising what we did in 2016. Our little infographic below gives a summary, but for those who prefer reading here it goes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We published 9 issues and a total of 125 papers (102 original articles, 8 editorials, 7 reviews, 5 commentaries and 3 letters to the editor)<\/li>\n<li>We published 2 special issues (one on <a href=\"http:\/\/link.springer.com\/journal\/38\/61\/2\/page\/1\">e-cigarettes and public health<\/a> and one on <a href=\"http:\/\/link.springer.com\/journal\/38\/61\/8\/page\/1\">violence and health<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>At the end of the year we also published <a href=\"http:\/\/link.springer.com\/search?query=%22Health+and+social+determinants+of+health+in+Vietnam%3A+Local+evidence+and+international+implications%22&amp;search-within=Journal&amp;facet-journal-id=38\">a supplement<\/a> on health and social determinants of health in Vietnam<\/li>\n<li>Keeping up with current affairs, we published a virtual issue on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.springer.com\/public+health\/journal\/38\">refugees and public health<\/a>, also coinciding with the <a href=\"https:\/\/sph16.organizers-congress.org\/\">Swiss Public Health Conference<\/a>\u00a0which had the same main focus<\/li>\n<li>We organised a <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.springer.com\/ijph\/announcements\/meet-our-award-winner\/\">competition for papers on development and public health<\/a><\/li>\n<li>We conducted a published <a href=\"http:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s00038-016-0831-y\">an RCT on the effect of social media exposure<\/a> on article downloads and citations<\/li>\n<li>We remained active on social media and tried out new things, like twitter chat and twitter journal club<\/li>\n<li>We hosted a few guest blogposts from IJPH authors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All in all it was a fun year at the IJPH office and we cannot wait for more exciting things to come in 2017!
