Image thumbnails and Citeulike support added
I know it doesn’t look like it from the blog, but we’ve actually been hard at work on developing improvements to AuthorMapper for the past few months. We’ve primarily been working on adding support for more content from other publishers, but two things that we were able to get out the door in a release yesterday were:
- Adding a “Post to Citeulike” button next to the “Download article” button
- Adding thumbnails of images from articles
The “Post to Citeulike” provides one-click importing of the bibliographic data from the article in the AuthorMapper search results. When you click on the button Citeulike automatically pulls the relevant metadata from the article and imports it into your library. You may need to sign in if you are not recognized immediately. Citeulike is a great way of managing your bookmarks for papers you’d like to cite. They have a suite of reference-management tools that help make the citation process easier.
The image thumbnails give you an insight into what content is available inside the article. Mousing over them will reveal the caption of the images, and clicking on any thumbnail will take you to the Image Details page for that image on SpringerImages (a new service from Springer that has over 1.6 million images.
We hope you find these new features useful and welcome any feedback.
